FES Kyrgyzstan Announces Transition to a Central Asian Regional Platform

in the end of December 2025

The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) Kyrgyzstan would like to inform our partners and community that our office in Bishkek will close at the end of December. While this marks the end of our operations as an independent country office, it does not mark the end of our work in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Beginning in January, FES Kyrgyzstan will become part of a broader and strengthened Central Asian regional platform, bringing together the work of FES across several countries in the region. This new structure will allow for deeper regional cooperation, more integrated project planning, and expanded opportunities for dialogue and exchange.

For many years, FES Kyrgyzstan has been committed to supporting social justice, democratic development, youth empowerment, and regional cooperation. Through research, public discussions, capacity-building programs, and collaboration with civil society, academia, and government institutions, we have been proud to contribute to important conversations and initiatives within the country.

As we transition into the new regional framework, FES will continue to work in and with partners in Kyrgyzstan — but no longer as a standalone office. Our activities, expertise, and partnerships will remain an essential part of the expanded Central Asian program.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all partners, colleagues, and friends who have supported us throughout the years. Your cooperation and trust have been instrumental to our work, and we look forward to continued collaboration within the new regional structure.

Thank you for being part of our journey. We look forward to building the next chapter together within the Central Asian platform.
